Applying the intervention well is not just doing what the protocol prescribes. It requires an attitude of
care and the ability to distinguish the essential elements of the process of care and integrate them in practice.
Care ethics not only provides the theoretical basis for the development of interventions aimed at prevention
of seclusion, it is also relevant for explaining the (lack of) success of these interventions and can provide
insight into the problems which are involved in applying the intervention in practice.
