The popularity of specific social networking sites rises and falls, but as a whole it is a trend that has gained permanence. At the heart of social networks is the ability to create connections, albeit in different ways, from the music-oriented MySpace to the professionally-geared LinkedIn. Boyd and Ellison (2007, p. 211) defined social network sites as, “web-based services that allow individuals to construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, articulate a list of other users with who they share a connection, and view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system.
