General Information on Solid Waste
Frequently, it is difficult to tell the
difference between municipal and industrial
wastes or to describe the real
composition of municipal solid waste.
Table I presents a short overview of all
solid waste disposal problems in The
Netherlands.
The data in the table are for 1986,
they are expressed in 1000 tons. There
are three main ways of dealing with the
waste: dumping, incineration, and recycling
and other useful applications.
There is also always a group that cannot
be described in these three ways,
indicated here as "various." The data
