sometimes not even then 0 may mean thereby
one sometimes hears, "Well, at least as far as I'm concerned, s true." But what on earth does this mean? When you say are you saying that it is true, or that you believe that it is true? More likely it is the latter; but when you say you believe it is true, remember that your believing that it is true is quite compatible with not being true that is, your belief may be false. To say As far as I'm concerned, it's true s extremely misleading: it sounds as you are saying more than that you believe it (rightly or wrongly) to true-that not only do you believe it to be true, but that it is true. But if you are saying that it is true, then what does the "as far as I'm concerned" add? Is said to let you off the hook in case the statement turns out not to be true? But you cannot eat your cake and have it: you cannot declare that it is true an when it is shown to be false, claim as a defense that you said it was true only as far as you're concerned
