The magnificent compound of the Golden Spires in front of us here is the Royal Grand Palace, the most zenith part of Thailand which was used for the royal residence, administrative center and ceremonial center of the Kingdom. The construction of this palace started together with the founding of Bangkok in 1782 when King Rama I ascended to the throne as the 1st monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. The total area within the same concrete walls is about 60 acres dividing into many sections for the different uses; such as section of the Grand Residence, section of the Grand Spires of throne halls, section of bureaus and one the most beautiful sections is the Religious compound called “Wat Phra Kaew”. Wat Phra Kaeo - also known as 'Temple of the Emerald Buddha'. It was constructed in the outer court of the palace coincided with the palace construction to house the Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand. The compound of this holy temple is thick with Chapels and other fine structures of religious importance richly decorated with gold, colored-glasses and many other aspects if fine arts and decorative styles in which enhance its beauty that you can never find elsewhere in this world. This remarkable palace is only used for ceremonial today.
