Thankfully, this means that you will certainly recognise many of the dishes listed on the menu. However you shouldn't think 'Oh, I tried this recently' or 'I already know this dish'... try them again here and prepare to be surprised. Of course there are also some less known dishes inclduing our favourite: Nam Prik Mun Poo Kai Khem or Yum Tawai - (boiled vegetable salad with eggplants and bamboo shoots) but according to celebrity chef Mac Daeng, only one dish was really created in a royal kitchen, it's called 'Kao Chae' also known as 'Summer Rice'.
Kao Chae, a two hundred year old dish, is surprisingly simple and a very popular treat on the hottest days, consisting of rice in a jasmine and candle fragrance ice water served with an assortment of boiled and deep fried vegetables (yes, candle fumes are often used in sophisticated Thai dishes.. try it, you won't regret it!).
