The Second ACM SIGSPATIAL International Workshop on the Use of GIS in Public Health was held on November 5, 2014 in Orlando Florida, in conjuncture with the 21st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems. It has brought together researchers whose research is in the intersection of geospatial data management and public health. This workshop provided a forum for researchers and practitioners to share new ideas and techniques for Health-related GIS applications. Original research related to all aspects of GIS usages and applications in medical and in healthcare systems was invited; especially papers based on real-world experience were encouraged. The program committee consisted of a diverse set of members from academia, industry, and government research laboratories, each with expertise in different areas of HealthGIS: development, applications, and public health research. The workshop has provided a platform for an interdisciplinary dialog that is reflected in the program of the workshop.
