In radio channels which are supposed to be essentially Cantonese-speaking, hosts and guests alike often present Cantonese translations immediately after they have code-switched to an English word or phrase. These translations are meant to be equivalents to the English items and a method of “medium repair” (Gafaranga 2000). This medium repair may be initiated by the same speaker or a collaborating host , showing an awareness that Cantonese should be used in the programme
