10. Conclusion
Theoretical rationale and supporting data exist illustrating the
potential of meditation practices to exert significant benefits on the
cardiovascular system. As our goals are to help patients live better
and longer, there appears to be sufficient evidence regarding meditation
practices to recommend them based on the former. More high
quality and unbiased studies of meditation practices on relevant
endpoints in cardiovascular disease are needed including the effects
of such practices on inflammation, baseline heart rate variability,
arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and cardiovascular mortality.
These studies may establish meditation as a beneficial adjunctive
therapy in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease
