Repeated-batch conversion of CoQ10 by gel-entrapped cells with the organic
phase replaced without aqueous phase replacement in the TPFBR
To fully utilize the residual PHB in the aqueous phase, the organic phase was
replaced with fresh hexane containing 70 mg/L solanesol after 10 h, while the aqueous
phase was kept in the reactor without replacement. Thereafter, the organic
phase was replaced every 8 h, whereas the aqueous phase was not replaced until
the PHB was completely consumed. The concentrations of CoQ10 and solanesol in
the organic phase and PHB in the aqueous phase of each batch were analyzed by
HPLC.
