Due to severe signs of P deficiency, including reduced
feed intake and milk production, it was decided to terminate the LP treatment after sampling in week 12, and the
remaining 3 cows on LP were shifted to treatment FLP,
corresponding to HP. Types of maladies that were diagnosed and treated by the veterinarian were; retained
placenta, displaced abomasum, ketosis, milk fever and
udder infection. A total of 5 cows did not complete the
experiment (3 cows on LP and 2 cows on MP treatment),
due to acute ketosis, displaced abomasum and rumen
paralysis (LP treatment), bone fracture (LP treatment),
increasingly poor condition without any specific symptoms (LP treatment), continuous displaced abomasum (MP
treatment) and very difficult calving (MP treatment).
