As the pedestrian ramp rises across the site, the central court is sunk to create a two—level courtyard. Here the museum patrons can enjoy physical access to the sculptures and artworks on display, while the pedestrian path acts like a balcony for passers-by to lean over and look at the sculptures. The path needs to be raised to allow access to the rear of a steeply sloping site but this provides visual access that activates the path and invites more people to use it.
