Essential Health care Technology Package (EHTP) (see Chapter 45) is a new methodology and set of tools specifically developed to strengthen resource planning and technology management in health care (Heimann et al., 2002, 2003). As noted before, these resources predominantly include pharmaceuticals, human resources, medical devices, and facilities. The link between resources and the delivery of quality care is achieved by identifying all health technology (HT) resources that are needed in order to provide welldelineated health interventions. Health interventions are linked to the World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Diseases. This mapping between HTs and health interventions is based on internationally accepted and recognized clinical practices.
