It was observed in a study that, in most cases, care was not taken to reduce aeration during loading in most refinery tank farms. It was observed that over-top loading into storage tanks could increase the dissolved oxygen content (DOC) in the oil up to as much as 35 ppm. In a survey of some of the tank farms in Malaysia, it was found that the DOC was generally high, up to about 46.0 ppm in RBD palm oil.
