There are no strict rules concerning the measurement of bonsai, but certain practices are established. Normally we measure the height of the tree from the rim of the pot to the apex. Trees that have leaves hanging below the pot's rim, as well as cascades and semi-cascades, are measured from their lowest point to the apex. Jin are parts of the tree and count for the height as well. Tees over rock are also measured from the rim of the pot to the top of the tree or top of the stone, whichever is higher.
