The synthesized cationic surfactant show good inhibition
efficiencies for the corrosion of carbon steel in 1 M HCl solutions
and the inhibition efficiency increases with increasing the
concentration of the inhibitors and the alkyl chain length. The
increasing order of inhibiting performance of the inhibitors is in
the order of: AB8 < AB10 < AB12.
Tafel polarization measurements show that all the inhibitors
are mixed type inhibitors. While, one equivalent structure model
was selected to fit the experimental data of the impedance
diagrams (EIS).
The inhibiting efficiencies obtained by polarization, EIS and
weight loss measurements are in good agreement.
The adsorption of the inhibitors on the carbon steel/1 M HCl
interface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model.
The values ofDGads indicate thatthe adsorption ofthe inhibitors
on the mild steel surface in 1 M HCl is a physical adsorption.
