In landfills with a limited amount of organic matter, heavy metal leaching is expected to be mainly controlled by the solubility of these metals. In this study, the total amounts of heavy metals in the PP and MP were comparable in terms of the Zn, Pb, Cu and Cd concentrations.However, the average contents of Ni and Cr in the MP leachate were approximately 5 times lower than those in the PP leachate, whereas the average contents of Zn and Cu were seven and five times higher in the MP leachate, respectively (Fig. 6)
