Precision Agriculture (PA) Data collection systems for crop and livestock production management use contemporary information technologies such as Mobile Ground Positioning Systems (MGPS), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Mobile Geographic Information Systems (MGIS), Remote Automatic Weather Stations (RAWS), General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) routing or Satellite Communication. Static or mobile sensor nodes can be distributed to agricultural fields for collecting data which will be relayed to main servers via WSN. These nodes are powered by solar panels for longer period of data acquisition. GPS and GPRS enabled MGIS devices are also part of the system. Our major concern is sensor nodes with low energy consumption and cost effective WSN. We may call our fields as Smart Agricultural Fields after such deployment. Use of smart technologies for livestock, fisheries, forestry and other natural resources management has similar Issues.
