Measurement techniques can be as simple as having a parent volunteer ask your community members how they found out a particular event was taking place at your library. Or measurement could just be the smiling faces of the students at your school. At Wanda Levy's school, she includes information in the parent newsletter, school Web site, and district Web site about new books and a special parents-only book section. Then, when a parent comes into the library inquiring about a particular parents-only book, she uses a tally method to discover how that parent heard of the service. It's a simple and effective measurement tool that lets Ms. Levy know which PR efforts are reaching her community.
