Different from commercial anatase TiO2 P-18 as highly transparent active layer with a diameter of 15–20 nm, the photoanode film, which was fabricated by the ultrafine dice-like TiO2, reveals a high visible-light scattering distinguished by naked eye. Their scattering characteristics were accurately measured by UV–vis diffuse reflectance method. The scattering performance of dicelike TiO2 is significantly better than that of P-18 between 350 and 800 nm, especially at visible region (Fig. 3(c)). For example, the scattering values of dice-like TiO2 are 2 and 4.5 times as high as that of P-18 at the wavelength of 400 nm and 550 nm (Fig. 3(d)) respectively. For improving the light scattering, the essential cause may be unique agglomeration with facet-to-facet joints of dicelike TiO2 film, which has better back-scattering than the agglomeration with point-to-point joints of P-18 film. On the other hand, the improved scattering also owes to the index transition from loose packaging to a dense packing. So we next
