Even with the loss of seed germination, a small proportion of T. recurvata seeds (8%) still germinated after more than one year.
This is contrary to earlier reports that seeds of T. recurvata were notviable after one year (Fernández et al., 1989).
The higher longevity we found in T. recurvata may be due to the fact that we mixed the seeds, which means that groups were genetically homogeneous,it is also possible that the results of previous studies may have been influenced by irregular mixtures of seeds.
Nevertheless, the counfounding effect of seed collection in different populations and seasons can not be discounted.
