Cholesterol assimilation ability of LAB
LAB cells were grown in 100 ml MRS broth supplemented with
0.5% (w/v) bile salts (Choi & Chang, 2015) and 10 mg cholesterol
dissolved in 500 ml ethanol was added to it (Lavanya, Sowmiya,
Balaji, & Muthuvelan, 2011). Percentage of cholesterol assimilation was determined (Choi & Chang, 2015). This experiment was
performed in triplicate and results from each experiment were
expressed as mean ± standard deviation of three independent
readings.
