Our farm is situated in a peaceful valley near Samoeng, 75km north-west of the Chiang Mai city, welcomes you to stay with us to learn about a simple way of life, organic farming, mud-brick construction, vegetarian cooking, meditation and Buddhism. The farm is run by a former Thai monk, Chinnaworn, and his Japanese partner, Noriko.
The farm is not only a place where vegetables and fruit grow to nourish the body, but also where seeds of mindfulness are planted and tended to for the heart and spirit. Being in a peaceful environment, free from distractions we can see what parts of our mind may need to be ‘weeded’, and which seeds need to be watered so that they can grow into peaceful flowers for us and all we meet to enjoy. In the farm, meditation and mindfulness can be put into every day practice.
Mindfulness is a word used in connection with Buddhism and meditation. It means to be in the present moment. It is being really aware of what we are doing while we are doing it. As a method for cultivating mindfulness – meditation is a vital part of the daily life here.
Come and join us! Let’s learn together!
We have been building wooden huts for volunteer accommodations. We use also other materials like bamboo and mud-brick we make ourselves. Everything is taken from the surrounding Nature. We have been planting many kinds of vegetables and fruit trees, too. The aim is to produce enough for our own daily nourishment, and as our harvests allow, to sell our organic produce in the markets of Chiang Mai and Bangkok. We also practice yoga and meditation, learning every day how to quiet our minds and live a calm and healthy life.
We welcome all energetic people to join us working on the farm. Accommodations are very basic and in various states of improvement and upgrading. Staying here is similar to camping with a few small partially open mud huts, and a few completely enclosed accommodations There are no personal guesthouses. While older people are welcome to stay, they may not find accommodation and sleeping comfortable. The farmstay costs 200 Baht/night per person. We are at an early stage of the project, so many things must still be purchased for the farm.
In exchange of your volunteer work on the farm, we will teach you organic farming methods, methods of building with natural materials, Buddhist teachings, and meditation instruction. You can also learn vegetarian cooking and wild edible plants, and experience the Thai local village life.
We will learn all together how to live a simple and mindful life on the farm, close to our Mother Earth.
While staying at the farm, we request that you follow a mindful lifestyle: refraining from smoking and alcohol, refraining from excessive noise and talking, and not playing loud games or loud music. This helps a good environment for meditation.
We want you to feel as if you were at your second home. We would like to be your second family in Thailand.
