In the second term of my MBA course, I had got two assignments in the module of Organization and People, one is a group assignment and another one is individual assignment. In a group work, we had five people in a group and we had to choose a topic, so we chose one, which related to leadership and also we need to choose a leader, so we chose one of our group members, which comes from India. The aims of this reflective essay are talking bout leadership performance in a group and all of group members working. Moreover, I am going to discuss and give some theories which relevant to this assignment.
Initially, I have to say that I did not take the role of leader because I think that my English is not as good as my classmates, so I only take the role of a good team member. Before starting the assignment, I understood that leaders and managers all work at the same role because most of the times people misunderstanding that leaders and managers are working in the equal positioning with the dominance and intelligence, but it is completely different from the real life (). However, since I worked with my classmates, I learned a lot from them and this can improve my ability to work as a team. Furthermore, this was really challenging for my studying experience in Singapore.(conclusion)
To start with the first time of group meeting, we discussed about choosing the topic. My classmate who is a leader of the group, which calls Ankita, she was really quiet in that day because of another member who was very confident and dominant as a leader, she played an important role in a group, from this situation, a group meeting’s atmosphere changed to very awkward, another two members and I also could not talk anything in that time. I felt that she was very self-assured. In my opinion, I think people should know what they should do in their position (). If there is one position that has already taken place so we should respect to their responsibility. In contrast, this is not a negative issue, for example, in some situations, the person who plays as a manager does not mean that he work as well as a person who has a leadership skills, but in the lower point ().
