Biosphere Reserves are areas of terrestrial and coastal ecosystems recognized under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme to promote solutions to reconcile the conservation of biodiversity with its sustainable use. As of 2011, UNESCO has designated 564 biosphere reserves in 109 countries. In Korea, there are four biosphere reserves in the south, Mt.
