Daily rings were obviously observed from the larval samples of any given ages and equal to the
rearing days of each samples (Fig. 1). This was confirmed that the daily ring was formed every day.
Thus, daily ring count of the adults was implemented. The final thickness of the readable sagittae
ranged between 0.88 and 3.06 mm. Thirty (38) sagittae of adult C. striata out of 79 samples (Fig. 2)
were clear enough to be counted the daily rings (Fig. 3) and used in analyses, in which 23 and 15
sagittae were represented the lentic and lotic habitants, respectively. The length of those 38 fish varied
in size from 14.9 to 56.4 cm TL and weight ranged between 13.9 and 1,280.3 g. Relationship between
sagitta-diameter (SD) and fish length was trended to be linear indicating (Equation 4) that sagittae
appear useful for age determination (r2 = 0.85 and P-value < 0.01)
