Biodiesel consists of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs),which are the products of the transesterification of vegetable oils oranimal fats using alcohol.
It is being explored as an energy source for the future, owing to its nontoxicity , biodegradability, and renewability.
Typically, biodiesel is free from sulfur, aromatics, particulates, and carcinogenic substances, components that are all
present in petroleum diesel combustion emission s [1].
With the prices of crude oil constantly increasing, the renewability of biodiesel is a great advantage because any type of triglyceride oil can be used to produce biodiesel, including animal fats, microalgae, and waste cooking oils.
