This study aimedatinvestigatingtheinfluence ofthe “reaction time” and the “fiber/acid ratio” on the
properties ofnanocrystallinecelluloseisolatedfromcornhusk,whichwaschosenbecauseitisabundant
and sofarithasnotbeenextensivelyinvestigatedasaraw-materialoptiontoproducenanocrystalline
cellulose. Theresultsshowedthatcornhuskcanbeusedtoproducenanocrystallinecelluloseandalso
that reactiontimeaffectedthecrystallinityindex,particlesizeandthermalstabilityoftheproducts.
Additionally,aninteractionbetweenthereactiontimeand fiber/acid ratioonthecrystallinitydegree
wasobserved.Whendriedbyaspray-dryingtechnique,thenanocrystallinecelluloseaqueousdispersion
produced agglomeratesofparticleswithsphericalandirregularshapes.
