This paper describes a fault tolerant control algorithm using sensorless vector control with a backup V/F controller activated in the event of faults. It was seen that this approach ensures high performance with no faults and acceptable performance in case of faults. The wavelet was shown to be an efficient analysis tool and an effective indicator of faults.
The protection unit was effective in the presence of compound faults. Finally, the fault tolerant algorithm was successfully
implemented and rapidly recovered from the faults and is capable of preventing motor damage in case of high severe faults
