Research Question
The purpose of this study was to provide educational research in an area of
instruction where it is desperately needed. An experimental research design was used.
This study addressed the following question: Is there a difference between computerassisted instruction and instruction using teacher-directed activity for teaching high
school students with SLD to multiply and divide simple and mixed fractions?
Null Hypothesis
The research question leads to the following null hypothesis: There is no
difference between the skill acquisition of high school students with SLD who are
receiving either CAI or instruction using teacher-directed activity in multiplying and
dividing simple and mixed fractions. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was the
method of analysis initially chosen to answer the research question and null hypothesis.
