Dear khun Krairit,
How are you? In this period we finalised the running with filter cake.
We have a couple of scenario I would like to submit to you to evaluate the project.
The filter cake coming from KTIS plant has a potential of around 14 MWe power production (or 79.200 Nm3/day of CH4). This value are based on our reference data and test we performed on sugar cane filter cake coming from similar process after ethanol production. The test we did on the filter cake (after composting) that we took together on KTIS plant had lower production value (60% of reference data) this is due to the lower organic content which was already consumed during composting process.
Please find here attached the results of the filter cake analysis we did in our lab.
Here below the two option feasible:
Solution A – 365 days of work storing filter cake (max production about 7 MWe)
Solution B – 180 days of work without storing filter cake (max production about 14 MWe)
Solution A
I considered a production period of the filter cake of about 180 days (total production of 320.000 t/year), therefore we could run half year with “fresh” filter cake and another half year with stored filter cake.
This solution has the advantages to have constant production during the year with small investment for the plant construction but bigger for silo storage area and additional opex in order to properly store the filter cake for the rest of the year usage.
On the other hand this solution is the easiest to operate as the plant could run constantly during the year and it doesn’t need start-up session at the beginning of each harvesting season.
Attached you can find a preliminary layout and commercial offer of this solution for 1.5 MWe for your consideration.
Solution B
In this case it has been considered to use only the fresh filter cake during production period and shut down the biogas plant during the off period. In this case it is not necessary to have silo storage area, on the other hand it would be necessary to start-up the plant at each year.
General note
The quantity of filter cake and power production could be chosen in accordance to your need, in the budgetary offer attached I considered 1.5 MWe production during the all year just to have a starting point.
The price is budgetary and it is valid for turn key plant, therefore no additional costs has to be added, I also prepared a Business Plan using the number of the feeding tariff from the government for waste product and the Project IRR for 1.5 MWe project is around 17-20%, while it grows up to 22-25% for bigger size projects.
Please let me know your opinion and if you believe this could be a good option for the mill I would prepare a more detailed project and offer to be presented with binding price.
Thanks and best regards
