ResultsA total of 17,077 records were available after limiting the dataset to the last singleton birth per mother. Following exclusion of 280 women with abnormal weight and height, 191 with missing data for race, 15 for missing parity and age, and 9withagestationalage<20weeks,16,582(97%)women were included in the analysis. Table 1 shows the characteristics of the cohort, which included 61.9% white, 22.2% black, 10.4% Hispanic, and 4.9% Asian women; 35.8% were nulliparous. The average age of the women in the cohort was 28.96.2 years, and the average BMI was 26.06.0kg=m2. There was no significant difference in mean age for women with and without PIH (p¼0.39); however, the mean BMI of women with PIH was 28.96.9 compared with 25.75.9 for women without PIH (p<0.0001).
