2.2. Experimental methods
The experiments were carried out using a custom-built batch
reactor and a molten salt bath. The reactor was made of
nickel-molybdenum-chromium wrought alloy (Hastelloy C-276) to
prevent corrosion due to supercritical water. It was designed to
endure high temperatures and pressures. The volume of the reactor
was 30 cm3. The molten salt bath was filled with a eutectic mixture
of sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and calcium nitrate that exists
in a liquid state in the temperature range of 200–500 ◦C. A motordriven shaker was installed above the molten salt bath to agitate
the reactor horizontally.
