This study was designed to address the following research
questions.
(1) How do PHNs identify child maltreatment?
(2) How do they intervene in child maltreatment?
(3) How do they describe their implementation possibilities
concerning identifying and intervening in child
maltreatment?
(4) What are the background factors that promote identification,
intervention, and implementation?
3. Methods
3.1. Design and Sample. The respondents to the current
survey were recruited from the register of the Finnish Union
of Public Health Nurses, in 2012. All the members who
had an email address and appeared to have worked in
child-related clinics (
