Ceramics are an important alternative for use as decorative building materials. This class of materials combines technical performance, ease of cleaning, and esthetic characteristics that are compatible with current demands. Ceramic tiles are produced in large-scale plants by a well-known powder technology that includes uniaxial pressing, drying, decorating, andfiring in roller kilns[1]. In recent years, this approach has been used to produce relatively large porcelain stoneware tiles measuring up to 1 m 2, such as plates that measure approximately 1.2 m 1.2 m and are between 6 mm and 10 mm thick.
