In genera competency modeling refers to the practice of identifying the characteristics or attributes that are needed for effective performance on the Job specifically those characteristics held by exceptional performers (DuBois, 1999). Although these characteristics or competencies typically consist of the well-known KSAs, other authors also include such variables as motives, traits, or attitudes(e.g., Spencer& Spencer, 1993).
