Further to our conversation we had on the “ block holidays” , the current practice is that we will hold the shipment and leave them open until the desired dates to be shipped . In this case, we will have a 6 day delay and will impact delivery reliability badly for the month. As such , I revisited the initial perceived need for holding this shipment, and came to the conclusion if we are to close the shipment as per pool schedule yet hold physical collection and delivery
1. There is no impact on SG portion as the dates of invoicing is immaterial to cargo export documentation- Clarified with UPS -SG
2. There is no effect to the import declaration in Thailand as UPS –Thailand has also clarified
3. Short of STDS28 ( direct shipments to end customers ), the generation of IV invoices will not have any problems with the accounting of F-TH even if shipment arrives after the invoice dates- Clarified with Khun Rawat. As there is no STDS28, there is also no generation of end customer invoices on that date as the transaction is standalone and not tied to clander type at YT91.
a. STDS28 will be managed actively by Team Thailand , where in such long festivals , STDS28 shipments are expected to be drastically reduced as the customers in TH are also closed and not able to receive cargo.
As such , with such understanding , we can safely assume and put in practice the closing of shipments for THAILAND ONLY even on such “ block “ holidays. Chong will have to inform UPS of non collection for those shipments we close in system but consolidated physically.
This should allay the concerns with the drop in delivery reliability and the corresponding rollercoaster effect on the reporting from the months and explanation to Mr Ring.
