Here, we report a new skeletal remain of P. mortoni from the
Upper Cretaceous of north-central Kansas, USA (Fig. 1A). The new
material is fragmentary, and the exact body form of the taxon
remains largely speculative. However, this new specimen strongly
supports the contention that the shark was a gigantic animal. The
purpose of this paper is to describe this Ptychodus specimen and to
discuss its paleobiological implications
