Many foreign workers interviewed reported that foreign workers who become pregnant are asked by the facility to resign.
Management interviewed reported that if workers become pregnant within 6 months of employment, they are sent back as per agreement with PEAs. If however, they are pregnant after 6 months, workers are asked for preference to stay or continue to work.
Documents reviewed indicated that there was a process in place wherein foreign workers report pregnancy condition to facility management and are given choice if they want to continue to work with the facility. Those who chose to continue working are assigned lighter work and assigned to day time shift. There were however many cases of foreign workers who chose to go home and resigned after pregnancy.
