There are a great variety of vehicle types in IPT, including both non-motorised and motorised forms. The simplest motorised from of paratransit is the small-engined tricycle such as the samlor of Thailand, the auto-rickshaw common in many Indian cities, and the tuk-tuk of Indonesia. Vehicles such as the dolmus of Turkey are essentially saloon cars or vans with little modification, while the silors of Thailand are pick-up trucks converted for passenger use with bench seats, a metal or canvas roof and a tailgate replaced with a passenger boarding step. At the top end of the range are imported mini-buses that include the tro-tro of Ghana and gbakas of Cote d'Ivoire These have also become the main forms of IPT (referred to as the Public Light Bus)in Hong Kong.
