At today’s GX VC, I postulated that we should perhaps now hold a review to identify outstanding items and learning points from the introduction of 11kV and 33 kV motorised GX into LE(T). Phil W thought this would be better timed following the proposed introduction of 24 kV later this year. I therefore suggested that we simply collate outstanding items at the moment and we can then progress these to conclusion.
As such, can I ask that you please send to me any items that you consider to be outstanding? I shall then compile these and hold further sessions to identify, agree and track corrective actions. If I do not hear from you by 1st September, I shall assume that you do not consider that anything else needs to be done.
On a wider note, I can report that the Marketing material is currently with the agency Purple Toad and is expected to be ready by the end of September in hard copy format – soft copy mid September.
I am not sure who was taking notes at the meeting but my headline understanding of stuff involving me is:-
1. SS reluctance for visit.
a. Acknowledged and CNS restated the SS’s resource limitations and their ability to support
b. CNS offered to help facilitate
2. 11/33 kV localisation
a. Discussion spilled over from #1
b. Localisation confirmed after discussion as being led by LE(T)
c. Clarification of LTH BOM construction provided by GB
d. Phil W/Gautam talked about common parts between sub-assemblies and the need to get to individual piece part prices. They also mentioned noble parts
i. JE reminded the meeting that a list of noble parts had been established in the early days of the project and that Wichan had identified some opportunities
ii. Clarification of piece part price breakdown provided by JE who again warned against using it for anything other than meeting TBOI formalities.
iii. JE reminded the meeting of his earlier suggestion that one whole sub assembly should be taken and progressed with SS – the rationale being that a scatter gun approach to get all information for all parts at the same time from SS is not working.
3. 24 kV etc
a. JE drew attention to the pack he had sent out
i. Roadmap – providing a general overview of project status.
1. JE explained the current status of the type testing programme, M&O development and how Engineering are currently creatively using their DO trainees to draw up parts in Teamcentre. JE emphasised that the LE Engineering position remains that that this should not be done and that the existing practice of attaching SS PDF’s to parts should continue.
2. JE advised that all Engineering support in the UYK continues to be provided via Overseas Operations.
3. JE noted that LE(T) need to advise on Production Improvements
4. JE noted that the direction not to change design was set for one year and that he suspects this is why Tim Horsforth is now kicking things off. JE reminded the meeting that a number of possible safety, performance and CR design changes were identified at the outset of the project.
ii. 24 kV Production Programme
1. JE asked that LE(T) look at the outline proposal and suggest any amendments.
2. VT confirmed that the assumption on 24 kV delivery is correct
iii. Post production Review of 11 and 33 kV motorised units
1. JE/KP suggestion to identify outstanding issues and learning points
2. PW advised that this should be conducted after 24 kV introduction
3. PG confirmed that KPLC production is complete – final dispatch later this week.
4. JE to simply ask for immediate omissions to be advised for corrective action development purposes – post meeting note: request circulated as part of these notes.
