There is a substantial research base investigating the causes and correlates of childhood and adolescent behavior difficulties (Brown & Schoon, 2008; Mcintosh et al., 2008; Schonberg & Shaw, 2007). These influences can be called risk factors when the given variable is not only significantly related to the outcome in question (i.e. behavior difficulties) but also found to precede it temporally (Offord&Kraemer, 2000).For the purpose of the current study a risk factor is definedas‘‘a measurable characteristic in a group of individuals or their situation that predicts negative outcome on a specific outcome criteria’’ (Wright & Masten, 2005, p.9).
