Throughout life, our eyes tend to be the only feature that will never change or age. But if you are anything like us, you get bored easily and the same old eye colour can be relatively weary – you want some variety. Luckily, there is the recent revelation of fashion contact lenses. These allow you to enhance and draw attention to your eyes with a fabulous choice of different designs. From the exotic, silly, gorgeous or natural, you can find the right lenses for you to test, try and buy.
Information to remember:
1. Always store your contacts in contact lens solution, unless you ave purchased disposable lenses. Contact lens solution helps to clean, rinse, and disinfect your lenses.
2. Dispose of your contact lenses by the recommended date. Most lenses are either daily disposable, semi-weekly or monthly. Make sure you check your contact lenses date and abide by the given information.
3. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before you insert your contact lenses.
How to insert:
1. Remove one contact from its case and remember to check whether it is for your left or right eye.
2. Place the contact on the index finger you’re most comfortable with using, (handle with care, they are delicate little things). Ensure that the contact is sitting hollow-side up on your fingertip, without the side walls sticking to your skin.
3. Handle the lens on the skin of your finger, NOT your newly manicured nails. It may be easier if you put a bit of solution on your finger where you intend on holding it.
4. Whilst it’s still on your finger, inspect the lens for rips, tears or debris. If dust or debris is visible, rinse with the solution.
5. Gently pull your skin away from your eye. Use your index finger of your other hand to pull the upper lip upward; use the middle finger of your comfortable hand (with the contact lens on it) to pull your lower eyelid downward.
6. Move the contact towards your eye calmly and steadily. Try not to blink or pull away – no jerky movements, basically – if you’re not used to this procedure it is going to be odd having this jelly-thing coming towards your eye but don’t worry – you’re fine! It may help to look upwards and be easier to place the lens if you do not focus your eye on anything.
7. Gently place the contact on your eye. Make sure it’s centered over your iris, gently sliding it over your eyeball if necessary.
And hey presto! It looks like a long and complex method, but once it becomes part of your routine it becomes as easy as brushing your pearly whites.
