However, no more information about the incident was available.
"I paid a visit to her in the hospital a few days ago but she was completely unresponsive," said Thai Embassy first secretary Wararoj Engsombun.
"Also at the hospital we were able to speak to close friends of Tipawan who have been following up the case.
"What we know is that the Saudi man is in custody pending the outcome of the instigation.
"At this stage he is only being suspected as he claims he is innocent.
"The embassy already informed the family that she was in the hospital but we are still unable to tell them what happened which is very important - so we will follow up with the police on Tuesday when the embassy reopens."
He pledged to follow up the case, but said details were under wraps until police complete their investigation.
Meanwhile, the GDN reported last week that police were investigating whether a Saudi man found dead in Juffair was murdered or simply fell to his death because he was drunk.
The body of Mohammad Radhwan was discovered near the coastline at around December 7.
There has been speculation that he was stabbed and then pushed from the eighth floor of a hotel, which has not been named.
Sources said he was in the hotel with friends when the incident happened.
