diagnosis had affected relationships in the marriage and social
life and the experience of information and support in
connection with the illness. The interviews lasted between
26–100 minutes, were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim.
One recording with a partner was lost because of
technical failure. The content was instead written down by
the researcher the day after the interview. The Regional Ethical
Review Board of Uppsala approved the study (D. no: 2007/
010). Written consent was obtained from the participants.
