2.5.4. Skin mucus protein levels and alkaline phosphatase activity determination
The total protein concentration present in mucus (mgml1) was measured according to [25] by using bovine serum albumin as standard. The absorbance of the samples was read using a spec- trophotometer at 540 nm (Biophotometer Eppendorf). Regarding alkaline phosphatase, its activity was estimated using the Pars Azmoon kit (Tehran Company, Iran) being the absorption read at 405 nm in a spectrophotometer [26].
