2. Purchase The Professional Reference Guide for the Catering and Event Industry and Food Safety Management Principles. All candidates are required to purchase The Professional Reference Guide for the Catering and Event Industry, which serves as the exam study guide. The Professional Reference Guide is included in the application fee, but can also be purchased separately at www.naceuniversity.org. Please include your receipt with your documentation and the price for the Reference Guide will be deducted from your application fee. Food Safety Management Principles serves as suggested reading to prepare for the food production section of the exam. This book can be purchased by visiting the Food Safety page.
3. Consider additional study programs
Online and Live CPCE Fast Track Program
When used in combination with The Professional Reference Guide and Food Safety Management Principles, the CPCE Fast Track Program has proven to be a successful review method to assist candidates in passing the exam. The Fast Track materials include online access to trainer-led videos covering each CPCE core competency and a companion workbook (worth 8 continuing education points), in addition to flash cards. 4. Register for the exam. You must take the exam within one year of your application approval date. To register for the exam, list your desired exam date on the application or email cpce@nace.net after your application is approved. Take the exam online at a date and time of your choice (proctor required; email cpce@nace.net for details). Paper exam dates are also available (see the CPCE exam page).
5. Sit for the exam. Online exam results are available immediately. Results for the paper exam are processed within 4-6 weeks of the exam date.
6. Earn your CPCE designation. Congratulations! You earned the CPCE credential! The certification is valid for five years. Candidates who do not earn the designation, can retake the exam once within one year. After one year, candidates are required to reapply.
