When frequency was calculated to include both scores
for daily use and scores for tasks happening once or twicea week, business-type communication remained the most
common task (with 44.8% reporting either daily or once to
twice a week reading in English). However, the combined
calculation method places the reading of reports and
technical documents in second place, with a total of
37.1% reporting either daily or once or twice a week
reading of such documents. User manuals and other
instructions come in third with a combined 33.9% score,
while the combined score for research documents
(research and conference papers) remains lowest in
frequency with a score of 16.5%. Figures 1-4 below show
the full range of frequencies for workplace reading tasks.
