The p value is a complex statistical entity, defined as the statistical probability of obtaining
a given outcome due to chance alone in comparison with the known distribution of possible findings.
P values are considered the “bottom line” in statistical significance testing. They are provided in clinical studies, primarily in the Results section, so that the reader can evaluate the clinical and statistical significance of the results for themselves. P values are also very familiar to HCPs and enable them to feel confident about the results of a study.
