Rocks are usually hard and sharp, so gloves are very important. A safety helmet or 'hard hat' is obligatory in some situations, and always helpful near tall rock faces. Sunglasses or a peaked cap help to shield the eyes from glare, especially from light-coloured shiny rocks. Goggles or a visor protect the eyes from flying shards of rock while hammering. And a mobile phone is an excellent aid in case of accident or injury.
